Family Hero

My husband joined me in Colorado Springs for the weekend. Although the weekend included much hiking, our purpose was single-minded, to visit the memorial for his uncle, 2nd Lt. Vincent Mannix, who along with the crew died in a plane crash on August 9, 1944. Uncle Vincent has been an inspiration to his siblings, nieces and nephews these many decades. Vincent set the bar high, running the Penn Relays, attending Georgetown and serving in the Army Air Corp as a pilot. His memory and the other nine men in the B-24 was honored with the memorial in August 9, 2008.
